Whew! Made it through Day 2!

Made it through day 2 and feeling good!! I was a little sluggish in the morning but then I had this little concoction...

Oh you know you want some!! Actually this is my version of V8 but I think it tasted better because it tasted fresher. I just didn't over power it with tomatoes and carrots. Day 2 was easier than day 1 for sure because I knew what I needed to do. The caffeine headache was gone although I was still feeling tired. However that may of had to do with the hardly any sleep the night of day 1 due to a little boy that is insistent on sleeping on top of me instead of in his bed...  Oh well....

This was lunch!

Beets, Beet root, apple, carrott, spinach, pear and a piece of ginger. Wanna see what it looks like after it is juiced? This amount right here on the cutting board sent through the juicer is left with this:

That little refuse pile there doesn't go into the trash either. It actually gets thrown outside for the deer. I wish I had a composter to put the scraps in but with limited space in and out of the townhouse, it won't happen. But hey the deer get some yummy scraps.

By the afternoon I had so much energy and felt better than normal! It was nice!!! I worked out for 45 minutes and still felt good! P90X and juicing... okay maybe not the best combo but it is good. I modified my juicing last night. I had a meal. An actual meal. Still alllll veggies but cooked. No butter or seasoning, just the veggies in their juices with some garlic and onion. It is the "Reboot" 10 day version that is on the Join the Reboot however I think I will just do one "meal" a day and stick with juicing the rest. My biggest issue was not actually eating. By doing this I am still getting all the micro nutrients but just chewable :)

So are you wondering yet if it is working.... well I stepped on the scale this morning, Wednesday, and I am down to 180. Yes, 180. I fully know some of it will come back when I finish my fast but 8 pounds is a pretty damn good number and with 8 days left, I will be happy just keeping the 8!

Day 1!!!

I am not going to lie, Day one was tough! It seriously was. I am use to drinking 2 - 3 cups of coffee in the mornings but this morning I drank a Detox Tea. Sure it was hot so that helped and I like tea so that wasn't the issue either, it was the no caffeine!!! I knew when I started this that the first few days would be tough so I was up for the challenge. Beside the goal at the end is way more important than a cup of coffee. I have done a ton of research on this before starting so it wasn't like I was coming into this unprepared. If you are interested, here are a few sites for you to look at. Join the Reboot, this one is created by the Joe Cross. He did the documentary Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and if you are wanting to do this, I highly recommend watching this film! My Juice Cleanse  is also another great site. It also has a lot of recipes and tips. The main thing to remember is if you have ANY health issues at all, you need to talk to your doctor before starting a juice fast! Me, I am healthy, just over weight. I was excited to start this!

This is my fridge, thankfully we have 2 fridges because the one upstairs is full of stuff also as well as veggies!

Starting a reboot is not cheap! Produce is expensive and you want to get Organic as much as possible. We have a Costco membership and they carry a lot of Organic produce so I went there since the Farmers Markets are not open yet. Between buying a juicer and buying the produce you are looking at a good chunk of change so that is why I made sure I was committed to doing this. Nothing worse than quitting when you have so much invested. I bought the GE Juice Extractor from Wal-mart and got the year replacement plan so if I burned it up, I could get my money back.

This was Breakfast:

It is called Mean Green. 6 Kale leaves, 1 Cuke, 4 celery (still in the sink) 2 apples, 1/2 Lemon and a piece of ginger. I just cut it up, stripped the cuke because of the wax on it and sent it all through the juicer. I don't know if it was operator error or what but the kale made one hell of a mess by blowing out the sides!!! My daughter drank the heck out of it, so it is an added bonus to juicing, my kids are getting the benefits as well! For me, I drank it but I had to get past the texture. There were kale pieces through it, that is the juicer but I can deal considering it has rocked so far! The rest of the day went on about the same, although lunch was a little less to be desired, okay I had to chug that one... I added too many beets to it. Blah. Dinner was my treat to myself. Even though it still had veggies in it, I had some yummy fruits :) Spinach, Cuke, Pineapple, Strawberry, Kiwi and Mango. That was good.

Side effects so far... stinky pee, I worked out a little harder than I should of so I was whipped, and I started to smell like green veggies. All in all a good day. I did go to bed early because I wanted food but I wasn't hungry. That is the thing, I was not hungry, I just wanted something to chew on.

Day 2 HERE I come! I am ready for you!!!

My jump start to a healthier me!

So I have decided that I am going to do a 10 day juice fast. My reasoning for this is because I am a food addict... I like bad foods, especially sugar! Oh how I love my sugar. Sure I have been eating okay the past week but not like I should be. So my husband and I sat down and watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and it gave me even more of a push at the detox than before. Hubby is telling me I won't follow through with the full 10 days.... well we will see! I hear days 1-3 suck but after that it gets better. This is me Friday. 4-20. The only reason I am showing these is because I am determined never to see this again.

I weighed in at 188 pounds.... yup. Ouch. I have joined a weight loss challenge with a very good friend and it goes until May 31st, there is also the extra push I need! Oh geez, not to mention my kids and the beach! Eeek!!!

So I am going to blog about my juicing journey as well as the weight loss journey I am excited about!
